# ENVIRONMENTAL AND ENERGY TRANSITION...

…is a cornerstone of the project for the metropolitan area. For 10 years now, GrandAngoulême, the coordinator of this project, has been initiating awareness programmes and operational projects with all the region’s stakeholders, from schoolchildren to business owners.

The development of short-circuit, responsible farming and nutritional education are also key concerns.

# A CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR RENEWABLE ENERGIES

– Experimentation in energy storage and the development of a hydrogen sector.
– Roll-out of regional projects for renewable energies (wind turbines, solar energy, methanization and wood energy), by involving citizens and stakeholders in their funding.
– Priority for inter-company collaboration (group orders).
– Development of waste prevention actions and the management of bio-waste.
– Growth of employment in the building sector and the maintenance of renewable energy systems.

# MOBILITY

– A high-performance, easily-accessible and environmentally-friendly public transport network.
– 26 hybrid buses in service.
– Development and promotion of bicycle use for daily and recreational travel.

# FOOD

– Actions to promote local agriculture (local and responsible supply for public canteens, educational actions, food self-sufficiency for public orders, etc.).
– Support for businesses creation in diversified market gardening and organic agriculture.
– Steering and organisation of the ‘Bien Manger à L’Ecole’ [Eat well at School] network to promote good practices in school canteens (supply, food waste and nutritional education).

# THE LOCAL CURRENCY: LA BULLE

Supported by GrandAngoulême, the ‘Bulle’ complementary local currency has been in circulation in Charente since March 2019. Local retailers and tradespeople can now be paid in bulles.

Let’s give meaning to our spending; faced with the desertification of small retailers, delocalisation, unemployment and the loss of social relations, the bulle is a wonderful means to boost the local economy (retailers and tradespeople). It generates a virtuous circle; this money moves exclusively within the region as it cannot be used elsewhere and thus fosters local economic wealth. The bulle also strengthens social relations by encouraging you to participate in local life and short consumer channels.
